Teaching Reading Comprehension Using Story Frames Strategy on Narrative Text (Quasi Experimental Research at Tenth Grade of SMK Nurul Huda)


This research investigates the use of story frames strategy in reading comprehension. This research was to find out whether teaching reading by using story frames strategy can improve students reading comprehension, especially in reading narrative text. This research used one group pre-test and post-test design and quantitative research method. The instrument used in this research was observation, pre-test, and post-test. This research involves 60 students as sample among tenth grade of SMK Nurul Huda academic year 2022 as population. The data analysis of this research used t-test. The results of this study indicate the effect of teaching reading comprehension using story frames strategy for improving students' reading comprehension on narrative text. Bases on the result of the research, the researcher got pre-test score 63,83 and post-test 72,93 from the experimental clad. While from control class researcher got mean pre-test 56,53 and mean post-test 61,03. The experiment class increase score of 9,1% was better then control class students with a 4,5 % increase. Hypothesis test by using t test from hypothesis test result obtained T0 = 9.44 and Tt = 2,00. It turns out T0 (t observation) > Tt (t table) with a significant level 5 %. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, this means that the use of story frames strategies on reading comprehension is more effective.
