THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VOICE OF AMERICA (VOA) LEARNING ENGLISH YOUTUBE CHANNEL TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING ON DEGREE OF COMPARISON ( A Quasi Experimental in Eighth Grade At SMPN 24 Kota Serang)


This research is conducted based on the main problems How to teach
Degree of Comparison before using VOA learning english YouTube channel
and How to teach Degree of Comparison after using VOA learning english
YouTube channel?. Based on the main problems formulated above the
purpose of research as state as folows: to know students the aim study is to
find out the effect before after of using Voice of America (VOA) learning
english YouTube Channel in teaching degree or comparison at the eighth
grade junir high school of SMPN 24 Kota Serang. This research investigates
the effectiveness of using voice of america (VOA) learning english YouTube
channel to improve students understanding on degree of comparison. The
subjects of this study involved 60 students as a sample from class VIII of
SMPN 24 Kota Serang in 2021 as a population. The method used in this
study is a quantitative method. The design of this study was a quasiexperimental
design with two classes, namely the experimental class and the
control class with pre-test and post-test techniques. The calculation results
show that the value of t0 is 3.26 with degrees of freedom (df) is 58. In this
study, the degree of significance at the 5% and 1% levels in the significance
table shows that the 5% level of df 58 is 1.68 and the level of 1% of df 58 is
3.26. Based on the test criteria, the results showed that there was a significant
difference between Students' Understanding on degree of comparison using
Voice of America (VOA) learning english YouTube Channel. That is, the
Voice of America (VOA) learning english YouTube Channel it is effective
and applied in class VIII SMPN 24 Kota Serang on Students Understanding
on degree of comparison.
