THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SWELL (SOCIAL INTERACTIVE WRITING FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS) METHOD TOWARD STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY ON RECOUNT TEXT (A Quasi Experimental Research at Eighth Grade of SMPI Al-Ma’mur)


This research aims to investigate the influence of SWELL method toward students’ writing ability on recount text at eight grade of SMPI Al-Ma’mur. The method used for this research is experimental with two classes, experimental and control class with using pre-test and post-test technique. This research involves 64 students as sample (32 students as control class and 32 students as experimental class at the eighth grade of SMPI Al-Ma’mur. The result of this research shows that score of t- test t0 : tt = 86 > 78 in degree of significance 8% and t0 : tt 72,65> 56 in degree of significance 23% so that Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) of the result is accepted and H0 (Null Hypothesis) is rejected. It means that using SWELL Method has significance toward students’ writing ability on recount text.
