THE EFFECT OF USING REPEATED READING STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ( A Quasi-Experimental Research At The Eight Grade Students On SMP)


This research designed to find out the effect of repeated reading
strategy on students reading comprehension. The research conducted
based on the main problem: 1) How is teaching reading using repeated
reading strategy? 2) How is the effectiveness of repeated reading
strategy on student reading comprehension? This research oriented to the
following aims: 1) To investigate teaching reading using repeated
reading strategy. 2) To investigate effectiveness of repeated reading
strategy on students’ reading comprehension.
This research is used quasi experiment al research. The writer
collected the data from 64 students spread in two classes, one class as an
experimental class and another one as a control class. The population is
8흱ℎ grade of SMP Negeri 11 kota Serang. While class VIII D as the
experimental class and VIII E as the control class are taken as the sample.
The result score of pre-test experimental class is 50,15 and pretest
of control class is 47,03. And the result score of post test of
experimental class 78,59 and post-test of control class 64,86. The result
is score of experimental class was greather than control class.
The result of the research shows that the hypothesis, that the null
hypothesis is rejected from statistical value that significant 5% = 1,99
and significant of 1%= 2,65 and the result of 흱흱 = 2,91. Based on
calculating was effective on students reading comprehension.
Finally, it was suggested that English teacher should have
appropriate method in teaching English and be more motivated in order
to make teaching and learning process more enjoyable.
