DESIGNING A POCKET BOOK TO IMPROVE STUDENT’S ABILITY OF IRREGULAR VERBS (Research and Development at the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Al-Khairiyah Margagiri)


This research aims to improve the vocabulary skills of class VIII MTs Al-Khairiyah Margagiri especially on irregular verbs and find out how the level of feasibility of pocket books as a supporting medium in the learning process. The researcher design the product in the form of English pocket book. The method use in this research is Research and Development (R&D). Using some instruments they were questionnaire, observation, interview, and test. Those instruments were used to find the students need. Then, the procedure in designing the product had some steps which was known by ADDIE model. it came from the abbreviation phases; Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, and Evaluation.
The research findings show that students need several tools to help them in learning English easily and practically. The design of this pocket book was made using several guidelines, such as the needs of students, the material being taught, and the level of students. Finally, the pocket book design is considered to be a good book which is proven by experts and also proved to be effective for improving the sudents’ ability of irregular verbs with a significant increase of 90.5%.
