Using Three Column Notes Strategy In Teaching Students Reading Comprehension


The research is conducted based on the statement of problems 1) How is students’ reading comprehension at eight grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sabilul El-Muhtadin? 2) How is Three-Column Notes Strategy applied in teaching reading at eigth grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sabilul El-Muhtadin? 3) how is the effectiveness of Three-Column Notes Strategy student reading comprehension? To answer the question, the researcher used quantitative research by implementing quasi experimental design as the research method. The population of this study was the students of eight grade of MTS Sabilu El-Muhtadin Pandeglang. The sample was divided into two groups, namely control group and experimental group. There were 30 students in control group and 30 students in experimental group. The experimental group was taught by using Three-Column Notes Strategy and control group was taught without using Three-Column Notes Strategy. After conducting the treatments and evaluating both pre-test and post-test have given, the researcher found that there was significant influence of using Three-Column Notes Strategy to improve reading comprehension. After collecting and calculating the data, the value of to 31.7 it is higher than the value of ttable the level significance 5% and 1 % . It means Ha (alternative hypothesis) of results is accepted and Ho (null hypothesis) is rejected. It means there is significance influence of Three-Column note strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eight grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sabilul El-Muhtadin.
