The Challenges of Implementing Digital Literacy Skill in Student’s Online Learning (A Qualitative Study at The Eleventh Grades Students of SMAN 5 Cilegon)


This research aims to know students’ implementation towards digital literacy skill in students’ online learning and exploring the challenges of implementing digital literacy skill in students’ online learning. The type of this research is descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The data were obtained by using questionnaire and interview. The subject of this research was the eleventh grades students of SMAN 5 Cilegon who have implemented digital literacy skill that includes three aspects; media literacy, information literacy and ICT literacy in online learning. The result shows that students’ give the positive impacts towards knowing and understanding in implementing digital literacy skills using media literacy, information literacy and ICT literacy during online learning. Nonetheless, students’ still find the barriers that related to the ICT literacy such as digital devices, internet quota, internet connection and the difficultness to adapt in online learning. Also, the barriers that related to the information literacy such as the difficulty to access and differentiate information on the internet. Indeed, they need more time to adapt in online learning.
