An Analysis of Educational Values in “Sing” Movie (A Content Analysis)


This study aims to find the educational values in the Sing film, to find out the meaning of illocutionary pragmatics found in type of educational values in the Sing film, and to find the most dominant educational values. The writer uses the theory from the Ministry of National Education to examine what educational values are found from the utterances of the actors in the film Sing. The research is based on three research questions, first is what are the educational values found in the film Sing, second is what are the illocutionary meanings in pragmatics found in the types of educational values in the film Sing, third is the educational values which are the most dominant appearing in the film. The design in this research is a qualititave descriptive research. The primary source of data is film Sing, and the secondary source of data is the subtitle file. The results of this research is that there are nine educational values in the film “Sing” such as; honest, hard work, religious, creativity, friendly, responsibility, love peace, rewarding achievement, and sociality. Meanwhile, the illocutionary meaning found are exspressive, representative, commisive, and directive. In this film, the most dominant educational values appear are responsibilty.
