The implementation of read aloud strategy using mini drama script to students` speaking skill (A Quasi Experiment At Tenth Grade Al – Mubarok Boarding School)


This research aimed to improve students’ Speaking Skill through Read Aloud and Mini Drama Script. This research has three objectives of the study are 1) how is the students of tenth grade SMA Al Mubarok Boarding School Serang in the academic year 2021/2022 speaking skill before treatment?, 2) How is the effectiveness of reading aloud using mini-drama script in teaching speaking skills, 3) How is the significant effect of mini-drama script on students’ speaking skill?. This research was conducted at SMA Al Mubarok Boarding School Serang in the academic year 2021/2022 especially in X A&B Class. The method of this research used A Quasi Experiment. There were two classes; both class consisted 60 students’ 30 control class, 30 experiment class. The experimental class treated by read aloud using mini drama script, while the control class was using the conventional ways. The pre-test was given to the two groups before giving treatment. The result pre-test showed the mean score of experimental class was 66,13 and the control class was 63,33. After giving treatment, post-test was given. The result of post-test showed the mean score of experimental class was 81,73 and the control class was 70,66. In addition the result of t-test are > or 5 > 1.67. In other words, t-test shows that Ho or null hypothesis is rejected. Ha or alternative is accepted. In summary, it could be stated that students who were taught speaking by read aloud using mini drama script was more effective than using the conventional ways. So, it can be concluded that read aloud strategy has positive effect to the Tenth Grade Students at SMA Al Mubarok Boarding School Serang on Speaking ability.
