Students’ Ability In Answering Reading Narrative Question With High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) (A Descriptive Qualitative at Eighth Grade Students of MTs Satu Atap Balaraja)
This research is aimed to describe the students’ ability in answering reading narrative questions with High Order Thinking Skill. The population of this research was the eighth grade students at MTs Satu Atap Balaraja. The students at 8.2 were chosen to be the sample of the research by using cluster random sampling. There were 30 students involved in this research. The instrument used in this research was test or reading test. In the test, the research provided the sample students narrative text of test with thirty multiple choice question which is surrounded by analyzing, evaluating, and creating question. The indicators of the test were adopted from Bloom (1956) and Anderson Taxonomy (2001). Based on the result of this research, it was found that the students’ ability to answer reading question with high order thinking skill was fairly good. It was proved by the average score obtained by the students which are analyzing (7), evaluating (5), and creating (5). Furthermore, the most mistake made by students was make an inferred from the passage or evaluate question. Sementara berdasarkan hasil dari interview, students also said that evaluating questions were the most difficult questions for them to answer with the largest error percentage which was 39%, while for analytical questions 25% and creating 37%.
