Improving Student’s Speaking Skill Using English Drama Performance (A Classroom Action Research at the second grade in SMK Bismillah Padarincang)


Speaking is one of the language skills that contribute to the successful learning of language. Speaking also one of the language skills that so interact with others in language with the purpose of expressing feelings, ideas, information, opinion and experience. This research investigates students’ speaking skill using English Drama Performance a classroom action at the second grade in SMK Bismillah Padarincang Serang. The research is conducted based on the statements of problem 1) How is the students’ speaking skill at second grade SMK Bismillah Padarincang Serang. 2) how is the application of English Drama Performance in speaking skill. 3) how is the improvement of students’ speaking skill taught by English Drama Performance. In SMK Bismillah, the research conducted in the class XI and classroom action research in three cycle from August until November 2017. Each cycle begins with planning, action, obsrervation, and reflection determiner the next cycle. Based on the result the writer knew that the students’ score improve in each cycle. In average, the result of the first test is 44 and the second test is 53,3 and the third test is 65,93. From the result of the test, it showed that the students’ speaking skill English using English Drama Performance is increase. So, using English Drama Performance we can improve students’ speaking English skill.
