Exploring teachers' strategies in teaching Reading Comprehension (A Case Study at the Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Sidayu Pontang Tirtayasa)
This study aimed to find out teachers' teaching reading comprehension strategies and how students respond to teaching strategies in teaching reading comprehension. The formulated problems of this study were: (1) what are teachers' teaching reading comprehension strategies at the tenth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Sidayu Pontang Tirtayasa? (2) How does the students' response to teaching strategies in teaching reading comprehension at the Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Sidayu? This research was conducted through qualitative research. The type of research was specifically a case study. The participants of this study were twenty-two (22) students and one (1) English teacher at the Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Sidayu Pontang Tirtayasa. The data teachers' teaching reading comprehension strategies were obtained by observation checklist and interview. The result of the study showed that teachers' teaching reading comprehension strategies contained three strategies used in teaching reading comprehension including scaffolding, Question answer relationship, and the use of the game. The data of the students' response to teaching strategies in teaching reading comprehension were obtained by interview. The result of the study showed that the Students' response to teaching strategies in teaching reading comprehension got a very positive response. Most students think that the strategies used are very good, easy to understand; fun and can improve students' reading comprehension skills.
