High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) in reading comprehension exercises on English textbook” (A qualitative content analysis on English textbook in Eleventh Grade of Senior High School of 2013 curriculum)
This research is conducted on the research questions: How is the composition of higher order thinking skill based on Bloom’s Taxonomy in the in Reading Comprehension Exercises on English Textbook at The Eleventh Grade of Senior High School? How are the student’s and teacher’s response about the English Textbook at The Eleventh Grade of Senior High School? The method used in this research is content analysis because the writer identifies specified characteristics of the material in the textbook. Furthermore, the data collected are qualitative data because the data are collected in the form of the words, which are the essay reading questions, rather than the numbers. The writer uses Bahasa Inggris textbook Eleventh Grade of Senior High School and the analysis card as the data sources and the checklist table for collecting and analyzing the data to find the result of the study. The research shows that the distribution of the higher order thinking level obtains 15 out of 32 reading questions (47%) while the lower order thinking level obtains 17 out of 32 essay reading questions (53%). It can be concluded that the distribution of the higher order thinking level is slightly lower than the lower order thinking level.
