The effectiveness of Google Classroom for improving student’s writing skill on narrative text. (A quasi experimental research at X grade of SMAN 1 Serang)


The research describes the effectiveness of using Google Classroom. The research is concluded based on the problem of: 1. How is the student’s ability in writing narrative text ? 2. How is the stident’s applied Google Classroom in studying narrative text writing ? 3. How is the effectiveness of Google Classroom in teaching narrative text writing ? These problems has a purpose, they are: 1. To find out the student’s ability in writing narrative text. 2. To find out the student’s applied Google Classroom in studying narrative text. 3. To find out the effectiveness of Google Classroom in teaching narrative text writing. By applying quasi experiment research method, the writer collected data from 84 students spread in two classes, one as experiment class and another as a control class. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. Based on the result of pre-test the writer got mean score at experimental class 72,92 and post-test 93,45. While from control class the writer got mean pre-test 66,07 and post-test 77,21. The score of experiment class increase on 28,15 % it is better than control class students with increase on 16,86 %. According to the data, the score of t₀ (t observation) 11,317 is higher than tt (t table) 1,989 (5%) and tt (t table) 2,637 (1%). It means that using experimental learning strategy gives the significant influence in teaching narrative text writing. Finally, it is was suggested that English teacher should have appropriate method in teaching English and be more motivated in order to make teaching and learning process more effective.
