The Use of Do It Yourself (DIY) Video on YouTube to Improve Student’s Writing in Procedure Text” (Quasi Experimental Research at Eleven grade of SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon in academic year 2018-2019)


ABSTRACT This research investigates the effectiveness of using do it yourself (DIY) video on YouTube in writing procedure text. The research is conducted based on the statement of problems, 1. How is students’ procedure text of the second grade at SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon? 2. How is DIY video on YouTube applied in teaching procedure text at the first grade of SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon? 3. How is the influence of DIY video on YouTube in teaching writing procedure text at the first grade of SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon?. To answer the research question, the researcher takes class XI MF, as experimental class which consist of 30 students, and class XI MB as control class which also consist of 30 students. The class XI MF as experimental class and XI MB as control class are taken as sample. Since the research uses experimental method, the data is gathered through pre-test and post-test. From the calculation above there is the effectiveness of the use of DIY YouTube video to improve student’s writing in procedure text for the 2nd grade of SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon. Based on the analysis of the data that we have ready known that the average score of to = 9,02 is bigger than tt= 2.00 and 2,65 with level significant of 5% or 1%. Since they use DIY YouTube video. In reference to the result of study, the writer recommends that this study, especially the research about personality that can support students in learning English, needs to be built both by the student and the teacher in order to increase students’ motivation in Learning English.
