The effect using of Read, Cover, Remember, retell (RCRR) strategy to improve reading comprehension of narrative text. (A Quasi Experimental Research at the second grade students at MTsN 2 Kota Cilegon


This research investigated Teaching Reading (Narrative Text) using Read, Cover, Remember, Retell ( RCRR ) Strategy. This research used a Quasi experiment research It was conducted based on three main problems. 1) How is students’ reading comprehension taught without using read,cover, remember, retell strategy of Second grade at MTsN 2 Kota Cilegon? 2) How is students’ reading comprehension taught by using read, cover, remember, retell strategy of second grade at MTsN 2 Kota Cilegon? 3) Is there any significant difference of using read, cover, remember, retell (RCRR) strategy toward students’ reading comprehension of the Second grade at MTsN 2 Kota Cilegon?. The researcher collected the data from 64 students consisted as experiment class 32 student and control class 32 student. The instruments were pre-test, and post-test. The result showed that the students Reading Narrative text abilities which used Read, cover, remember, retell (RCRR) strategy had better performance than those who had not using strategy. The result of the data analysis was using t-test, the value of tobservation was 4,33 with degree of freedom 62 in the degree significance 5% = 1,66 In degree of significance 1% = 2,38. It was found that to : tt =4,33 > 1,66 in degree there significance 5% and to : tt = 3,87 > 2,38 in degree significance 1%. It means that there is significant effect of using Read, cover, remember, retell (RCRR) strategy to improve reading comprehension of narrative text.
