Using video to improve students’ grammar mastery on Simple Present Tense (Quasi experimental research at the eighth grade of Al-Rahma Islamic Boarding School)


This research investigates using video to improve students’ grammar mastery on simple present tense. This research was to find out whether teaching grammar mastery on simple present tense by using video can improve students, grammar mastery. This research used nonequivalent control group design in quantitative research method. The instrument used in this research was tests (pre-test and post-test). This research involves 60 students as sample among the eighth grade of Al-Rahma Islamic Boarding School Serang in academic year 2019/2020. The last result showed that t-observation “to” that the researcher got from the calculation is higher than t-table “tt” both at the degree of significant 5% and 1%. Significant 5% to = 6,07 and tt = 2,00 that means to > tt or 6,07 > 2,00 and significant 1% to = 6,07 and tt = 2,66 that means to > tt or 6,07 > 2,66. In addition, the result of the observation showed that the students more motivated in learning English, especially in grammar mastery on simple present tense by using video. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that video can be used in teaching grammar mastery on simple present tense. The result of this research shows that using video in teaching students’ grammar mastery on simple present tense achieves better score than those who do not use it.
