The acquisition Of child’s vocabulary in the second language” (A case study on bilingual child 9 years At Discovery Conserva Family)
This research used qualitative as a case study it was conducted based on the main problem, 1) What strategies do parent apply to their child in acquiring second language? 2) What difficulties faced by parent in introduce L1+L2? 3) How does the child’s response in acquiring second language? 4) What are vocabularies gotten by child at Discovery Conserva? The method used in this research was qualitative method. The writer used observation, interview and documentation to collect the data. The writer collected data from one family that has 6 family members and the writer took only 3 from 6 family members as samples of this research. The result of this research showed that the strategies applied by parent in the home environment in introducing second language to their child were reading books aloud, dinnertime or mealtime discussion, watching International TV programs, watching cartoons movies, listening to music, playing games and making conversation. The difficulties by parent in introduce second language to their child was the child’s mood when she felt bored, tired and lazy. The child’s respond felt unburdened with strategies that parent applied in accordance with her hobbies. The child acquire second language vocabularies in speaking and listening skill as much as 99 vocabularies which is the child mores used noun because with noun the child can see directly the object mentioned word, so it can easily she remember the word that has been acquired.This research is still far from being perfect, to find out more about parental strategies applied in introduce first and second language/Indonesia and English language, further research is needed.
