Identifying students' difficulty in structure and written expression of TOEFL Test (A case study at sixth year students of SMAN Daar el-Qolam 2 in 2018/2019 Academic Year)


This research investigates “The Students’ Difficulty in Structure and Written Expression of TOEFL”. The objectives of the research are; describing the difficulties are faced by the students in structure and written expression at SMA Daar el-Qolam 2; and describing in what extend do the students get difficulties also to overcome the problems are faced by the students. The current research to qualitative method with a case study approach, its data were collected via identifying the archival record and face to face interviews with 15 students selected purposively. Students’ difficulties are come from three factors are: Participants’ understanding, Participant’s Problems, and lack of practice time. The students’ effort in overcoming the problems that is by applying effective time of practice and encouraging understanding in Structure and Written Expression. The research suggested some technique or method of learning structure and written expression and the teachers’ roles that included motivating students’ attitude toward Structure and Written Expression to overcome the students’ difficulties in Structure and Written Expression.
