An analysis of teacher techniques in teaching speaking for students Vocational High School at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Cinangka


The objectives of this research were to find out the teachers teaching technique in teaching speaking for students vocational high school at SMKN 1 Cinangka, to describe the obstacles from the technique employed, and to describe the students responses toward the techniques that were employed. The researcher conducted a qualitative research. The subject of the study was an English teacher of Tenth Grade of PH 1 (Perhotelan 1). She carried out two data collection technique they were observation and interview. She used observation sheet and interview guideline. In analyzing the data, she used data reduction, data display and conclusion. Result of data analysis showed that the techniques that implemented by the teacher in teaching speaking included drilling technique, role play, report, simulation, cued dialogue, brainstorming and discussion. The obstacles that faced by the teacher in implementing the techniqus were limited of time, students condition, the lack of facilities and th text book that was not appropriate with the syllabus. Most of the students were intersted in learning speaking through the techniques that were implemeted. From the findings illustrated above, it can be concluded that implementing some techniques in teaching speaking was very important especially for students vocational high school who will do the filed work in order to make them more fluent and confident in speaking.
