The Implementation of writing journal in developing students’ recount text ( A case study at eight grade students’ of SMPN 2 Balaraja )
This research used a case study it was conducted based on the main problem, 1) How is the students’ writing ability in SMPN 2 Balaraja? 2) How is the students’ difficulty in learning writing English? 3) How is the effectiveness of writing journal reflection in developing students’ recount text? The method used in this research was qualitative method, the writer used observation, interview and questionnaire to collect the data. The writer collected data from 40 students. However the writer took only 20 from 40 students as samples of this research. The writer used one class to help this research. The result of this research showed that the students’ writing in this research the writer found that the biggest problem of students’ ability in writing recount text is lack of vocabulary. As a result, they felt lazy to write especially in writing English language, the reason they felt lazy to write English journal because they regarded that the written of English alphabet is different with the way to pronunced it. This research is still far from being perfect, to find out more about writing journal in developing students’ recount text, further research is needed. Keyword: Writing, Journal writing, Recount text
