The researcher conducted theresearch at eightgrade students of SMPN 16 Kota Serang.The research aimed to know the effect ofword square methodin students’ vocabulary masteryat the eightgrade of SMPN 16 Kota Serang. The method used in this research is experimental with two classes, called experimental and control class using pre-test and post-test technique.This researchinvolves78studentsas sample among the studentsofSMPN 16 Kota Serangyear 2018 as population. The result of this research show that the hypothesis null is rejected, it showed from the significant statistical value 5% = 2,64 and with level significant 1% = 1.99and the result of to = 9.84. Based on the data calculating of t-test can be concludethat Word Square Method is effective in teaching vocabulary masteryat eightgrade SMPN 16 Kota Serang
