Macro strukture is analyzing text globally. It's different with micro strukture that is analyzing text locally. Text actually need be struktured both locally and globally such as the connection between clause, sentence or paragrap. it will make the such as a narrative text have good plot. it will make those text give a good contribution to the readers because they not confuse and easy to understanding what the writer means.
the purpose of the study is to get deep understanding about how macro strukture applied in american short stories. in this work, it present that the short stories have the elements of macro strukture that are abstrak, orientation, narrative clause, evaluation, result, and coda. neverheless, not all of the elements of macro strukture are applied in each story. but, those stories are able to make the readers understand what story is about because the plot is not confusing and the contents of the story is self is easy to be understood
